External quality assessment scheme for Bordetella pertussis serology 2016 Date of publication: 06 February 2018 External quality assessment (EQA) schemes are an important part of quality management systems. They use an external agency to evaluate performance of laboratory assays on material that is supplied specifically for the purpose. ECDC’s disease networks organise a series of EQAs for EU/EEA countries. The aim of ECDC EQAs is to identify areas for improvement in laboratory diagnostic capacities relevant to surveillance of communicable diseases and to ensure comparability of results between laboratories from all EU/EEA countries. The European Union summary report on antimicrobial resistance in zoonotic and indicator bacteria from humans, animals and food in 2016 Date of publication: 27 February 2018 This report covers data on antimicrobial resistance in zoonotic and indicator bacteria in 2016, submitted by 28 EU Member States. Resistance in bacterial isolates of zoonotic Salmonella and Campylobacter from humans, animals and food, and resistance in indicator Escherichia coli as well as in meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus from animals and food were addressed and analysed jointly by ECDC and EFSA. Monthly measles and rubella monitoring report, February 2018 Date of publication: 9 February 2018 ECDC publishes a monthly surveillance report on measles and rubella data submitted by the 30 EU/EEA countries. ECDC also monitors European and worldwide measles outbreaks through epidemic intelligence and reports on them on a monthly basis in the Communicable Disease Threat Reports (CDTR). It is mainly intended for public health professionals and policymakers involved in infectious disease prevention and control. ECDC communicable disease threats report Date of publication: every Friday The ECDC communicable disease threats report is a weekly bulletin intended for epidemiologists and health professionals in the area of communicable disease prevention and control. Summarising information gathered by ECDC through its epidemic intelligence activities regarding communicable disease threats of concern to the European Union, it also provides updates on the global situation and changes in the epidemiology of communicable diseases with potential to affect Europe, including diseases that are the focus of eradication efforts.
