Outbreak of yellow fever in Brazil Date of publication: 14 April 2017 Brazil has been experiencing a yellow fever outbreak since January 2017 and WHO has recently updated vaccination requirements and recommendations for international travellers accordingly. This risk assessment contains updated advice to travellers and health professionals and the latest information on the epidemiological situation in Brazil, with details of the States affected and the measures being taken. Multidrug-resistant tuberculosis in migrants (MDR TB), multi-country cluster Date of publication: 13 April 2017 A multi-country cluster of MDR TB has been delineated by whole genome sequencing (WGS) involving 28 migrants recently having arrived from countries in the Horn of Africa. Zika virus disease epidemic Date of publication: 4 April 2017 Since the last rapid risk assessment in October 2016, the Zika virus epidemic is showing signs of a significant slow-down in the Americas and the Caribbean. Despite this, the European Union/European Economic Area (EU/EEA) Member States should continue to consider a range of options for risk reduction. EU Laboratory Capability Monitoring System (EULabCap): report on 2015 survey of EU/EEA country capabilities and capacities Date of publication: 28 April 2017 In line with the ECDC public health microbiology strategy (2012-2016), ECDC has developed the EULabCap system for monitoring key public health microbiology capabilities and capacity for EU surveillance and epidemic preparedness. Immunisation information systems in the EU and EEA – results of a survey on implementation and system characteristics Date of publication: 26 April 2017 This report presents findings of a survey conducted by ECDC across EU/EEA countries that assessed the level of implementation and functionality of IIS, as well as challenges faced during implementation and design. The survey aimed to gather and share knowledge about IIS in the EU/EEA in order to build consensus on the characteristics of an optimal system, and describe differences in core functionalities. Catalogue of interventions addressing vaccine hesitancy Date of publication: 25 April 2017 This catalogue provides tools and resources to support EU/EEA countries in addressing the challenging issue of vaccine hesitancy. It provides examples of practices that can serve as a resource for other countries. The project was developed in the context of ECDC’s support for EU/EEA Member States in prevention and control of vaccine-preventable diseases, including effective communication to promote immunisation. European surveillance of Clostridium difficile infections – surveillance protocol version 2.3 Date of publication: 21 April 2017 ECDC publishes a protocol developed for the surveillance of Clostridium difficile infections (CDI) to address the lack of standardised surveillance of CDI in EU Member States. This updated protocol prescribes the methodology, and provides the data collection tools required to achieve the objectives of European surveillance of CDIs. Measles and rubella monitoring, January 2017 Date of publication: 24 April 2017 The ECDC measles and rubella monitoring report is published twice a year. The January issue reports on the previous calendar year, while the July issue focuses on the most recent measles and rubella season and presents the data collected over the past 12 months. Visualised measles and rubella data are available online through the related pages of the ECDC Surveillance Atlas of Infectious Diseases, updated monthly. ECDC communicable disease threats report Date of publication: every Friday The ECDC communicable disease threats report is a weekly bulletin intended for epidemiologists and health professionals in the area of communicable disease prevention and control.
